DENNIS WILSON
Director of Deaf Ministry

Dennis grew up in the Deaf culture (both parents were Deaf) and attended a Deaf congregation, learning sign language as his ''first language". Dennis and his wife, Theresa, went through AIM, and Dennis graduated from the Sunset School of Preaching and Sunset's School of Missions in 1993. When the Iron Curtain fell, Dennis and Theresa took the gospel to Perm, Russia, then accepted a position in 2007 with Ciudad de Angeles as the American director for the orphanage in Cozumel, Mexico. The Wilsons have four children, all of whom attended the AIM program at SIBI, and one granddaughter. Dennis and Theresa both have master's degrees in professional counseling and are Licensed Professional Counselors.

Jana (SIBI class of 2021) retired from the Texas School for the Deaf (2018) as a Day Residential Educator. She completed a degree in Media Production and Data Processing at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, New York. Jana helped host several gospel meetings at Westover Hills Church of Christ in Austin, Texas, and Southern Hills Church of Christ in Buda, Texas, with her husband, David (SIBI class of 2022). She and her husband helped plant a Deaf and hearing Church of Christ in Malawi, Africa, in 2016 with the support of Southern Hills Church of Christ. She is active in teaching women’s devotionals with the Flying Hands Ministry on Facebook. She will be teaching two classes each term (Essential Women's Ministry and Public Speaking) from Burleson, Texas.

REBECCA SHELT

Mark (SIBI class of 1998) is passionate about getting the Bible translated into sign languages for the Deaf around the world. Mark serves as the Director of the Deaf Group, helping with Pioneer Bible Translators’ Sign Language translation projects. He has served as a full-time minister for the deaf in Virginia and Kansas. He travels throughout the nation and the world preaching the Gospel to local churches.
He has completed his degrees in Computer Science (AAS) and Biblical Ministry Studies (SIBI). Mark loves to share with individuals, organizations, and churches the vision of seeing transformed
lives through God’s Word in every language – especially Sign Language. Mark and his wife, Michelle, have three three adult daughters, are proud grandparents, and currently live in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Rebecca Shelt was born and raised on the mission field in Nova Scotia, Canada. As a young adult, she earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Lubbock Christian University and a Bachelor of Deaf Biblical Studies from Sunset International Bible Institute. Rebecca is also a BEI Certified Interpreter. For the past 14 years, she has worked with Sunset International Bible Institute as an ASL interpreter and instructor. Rebecca and her family are members of the Sunset church of Christ’s Deaf congregation in Lubbock, Texas where she has worshiped for the past 17 years. Her love for missions has led Rebecca to visit some 21 countries. She has had the honor of speaking at ladies' days both in the US and abroad. Additionally, Rebecca is a dedicated wife and mother.
